Get your young ones swimming like pros!

GUNZE SPORTS JAPAN offers children a one-off lesson with Olympian and Cambodian swimming star Hemthon Ponleu

Phnom Penh, February 15: If you’re keen to have your little ones swimming like true professionals under the charge of Olympian Hemthon Ponleu, head over to specialized Japanese fitness gym GUNZE SPORTS JAPAN on February 24 to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

The one-off swimming lesson by arguably Cambodia’s most gifted swimmer of his generation is open to children aged from 4 to 12. The first session is open to children aged 4-6 from 2pm to 2.45 pm while the second, from 3pm to 3.45pm, is for those aged 7 to 12.

Aside from picking up tips and advice, young participants will have the chance to take photos with Ponleu as well as receive exclusive gifts. Each lesson, however, is available only for new GUNZE SPORTS JAPAN members and is limited to the first 20 participants.

About Hemthon Ponleu
Ponleu is the son of the Kingdom’s late, legendary swimming coach Hem Thon and the uncle of popular female swimmer Hemthon Vitiny. Ponleu began training when he was six and has been a staple of the national swimming team for close to 15 years.

The 28-year-old Phnom Penh native has represented the country in numerous international tournaments, most notably the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics. Ponleu is also the national breaststroke record-holder in the 50-meter (31.35), 100-meter (1:10.09) and 200-meter (2:31.63) categories.

“This is a truly excellent opportunity for young children to learn the finer points of swimming from a true Cambodian legend,” said Hideo Sato, the president of GUNZE SPORTS (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD. “Ponleu has proven time and time again that he is the finest Khmer swimmer of his generation, and is willing to take the time and effort to share his expertise and experience with little ones to give them a head-start in the pool.”

Each participant will be charged $6 for the lesson.
