Celebrating 70th Anniversary of Japan-Cambodia Friendship
Explore the photos from the “Swimming Survival” Event at Gunze Sports AEON Mall Sen Sok City on October 21, 2023, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Japan-Cambodia Friendship. This event is organized by Mr. Yu Sugahara, the founder of Swimmy Inc. of Japan, in collaboration with Gunze Sports to raise awareness about water safety and impart self-rescue techniques and life-saving skills to others.
Thirteen children enthusiastically participated in this event, experiencing both enjoyment and valuable insights thanks to our special Japanese guest, Mr. Yu Sugahara. He initiated this event to help Cambodian kids to prevent themselves from drowning, after seeing the frequent news of water accidents and drownings among Cambodian children and being delighted to see Cambodian kids joining this event and exploring more swimming techniques.
He noted that Japan also faces similar challenges with water safety due to its numerous rivers and oceans, but elementary schools in Japan typically offer swimming lessons, a practice yet to be established in Cambodia. This is why he chose to come to Cambodia to teach survival swimming skills to the local children.
From the parents’ perspective, they expressed gratitude for the event, which not only introduced their children to the basics of swimming but also imparted essential skills for self-help and aiding others in water-related emergencies. Furthermore, the event provided an opportunity for the kids to socialize, share their grades, interests, and enjoy a 60-minute swimming session with Gunze trainers.
Gunze Sports extends sincere appreciation to our Japanese guest, the participating children, and their parents for making this event both enjoyable and educational. We wish everyone the best in their future endeavors.”
